I Am THE Makeup Junkie: Review: Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics #NapoleonPerdis

Napoleon Perdis is one of the best makeup artists working today. He is out of Australia and has two lines: one that is a higher end line available in Ulta, Bergdorf Goodman’s and on www.napoleonperdis.com;and another called NP Set that is available at Target. Both lines are quite good. I was able to try out the high end line recently. I am sitting pretty!

I am in love with the items I tried out and I must say what the heck took me so long to try out this line. That kind of tells you that this review will be positive. Well read on because you need to get your hands on some or all of these products! There are so many interesting products that are not available in other lines. Here is what I tried: Camera Finish Powder Foundation, Auto Pilot Lip Service (lip conditioner), Auto Pilot Concealer Primer, The Ultimate Contour Palette, Enhancer, DeVine Goddess Lipstick, China Doll Gel Eyeliner, Mattetastic Lipstick and Magnif-Eyes Black Mascara. Each of these of these are definitely go beyond the norm for a basic product. His products do something. This is what is so great about the brand. I am going to go through all of the products I tried and give you a good idea about each of them.

Camera Finish Powder Foundation $45.00

This has a new formula that contains a Matrix Rebuilding Complex to help prevent wrinkles, skin-brightening photonic green crystals and Vitamins C & E to provide antioxidant protection. The silky finish conceals, mattifies and sets makeup. It comes in 10 shades, 3 of which are new. Great for all skin types, especially normal to oily skin or uneven skin that requires enhanced coverage and lasting power. The coverage is sheer to medium and can be built up as needed. I use powder foundation on top of liquid sometimes in the winter when I want some extra coverage. In the summer powder foundation is great on its own to mattify the skin and just give that perfect coverage that is needed when you feel sweaty and want to have some lighter coverage. As I said, this has coverage that can be built up and that is what is so great!

Auto Pilot Concealer Primer $29.00

I have never seen a product like this before. It is the first of its kind. Napoleon Perdis wanted to create a primer for the eyes as the “eyes are the first area of the face to show fatigue, stress and neglect". This concealer helps concealer look fresher and last all day and even into the night. Humectants and gelling agents keep skin looking soft and refreshed. Light-reflective agents take the focus off lines and wrinkles. Film forming agents help the formula to sync in with the skin for an even more flattering and long lasting concealer finish. I used this under my concealer and found that it really did help to make the concealer blend easier and make it last all day. The primer itself helped to make the under eye area look pretty nice on its own, I could conceivably wear this as concealer with a little bit of powder over it.

The Ultimate Contour Palette $39.00

I love to sculpt my cheekbones. It is reminiscent of the 1980’s but supermodel cheekbones are back in style and I think that they are here to stay for a while. So this palette is actually perfect for that! I have a nice contour brush that I use to contour first and then use the color over it. The highlight looks innocent enough but when you put it on, it is amazing. The highlight looks ethereal. It creates a gorgeous, shimmery glow over the cheek that really makes them pop. They do end up looking like “supermodel cheekbones” which is what Napoleon Perdis was going for. His new can’t-work-without essential. A contouring shade adds depth and definition, a rosy blush will create a healthy hue and a shimmering highlighter will diffuse light. DeVine Goddess Lipstick $24.00

This has to be the best lipstick I have ever used. Seriously. Above I am wearing Eros over Enhancer on the left and Electra on the right (with no Enhancer). You can see how the Enhancer helps to really boost the color. The Eros shade is so buttery and creamy. And shockingly pink! But it makes a statement. A statement that says I am not afraid to try anything. This signature series is enriched with herbal extracts and antioxidants to pamper your pout – leaving lips color saturated for seduction. Transcend to timeless beauty with DéVine Goddess. I definitely need many, many more of the DeVine Goddess shades.

Mattetastic Lipstick $25.00

Mattetastic is the matte lipstick that Napoleon Perdis has been waiting for! This new collection earns its name for its high comfort, long-lasting color with a modern matte finish. Six intense shades that are names for Hollywood’s most glamorous screen stars: Marlene Dietrich, Ava Gardner, Lana Turner, Veronica Lake, Lauren Bacall, and Rita Hayworth. Packaged in high-glam slim-line black bullets. And the best part is that these lipsticks have: HydraTechnology that provides long-lasting, intense hydration for a pout, hyaluronic acid to keep lips soft, smooth & hydrated, Squalane provides antioxidant protection and keeps lips hydrated, Vitamin E to help retain moisture and promote suppleness so lips won’t dry out and suspended Pigments that allow an even and intense color application. I find that Mattetastic is a very intensely pigmented lipstick and indeed, it doesn’t dry out lips. It wears a very long time. I wore it over Enhancer, which gave it a bit of sheen.

Auto-Pilot Lip Service $25.00

Napoleon Says: "To Serve and Protect". This is the best lip treatment I have ever used. This clear treatment is almost like an ointment but better. Just apply some to lips any time you need to condition, protect and repair them. This contains Vitamin E for antioxidant protection and menthol to keep lips feeling fresh. Use a small amount prior to applying lipstick to help lipstick go on better. It really works better than just about any other lip treatment product I have EVER used. Awesome stuff!

Magnif-Eyes Black Mascara $25.00

This mascara takes lashes to the extreme. It is a collagen based, long-wear mascara that magnifies lashes with length, lift and strength. Collagen, triglycerides, high-tech polymers, ultra-soft waxes and the super-fine spiral brush works wonders with a wrap-around effect, coating and defining each and every lash. The Pros recommend to start in the center of the lash line and brush upward. then sweep out on the inner and and outer lashes to create a fanned effect for a fuller lash line. I love the long, thin brush because it really helps me get all the lashes. Thicker brushes are harder to get at my lashes with my smaller eyes.

China Doll Gel Eyeliner $25.00

Napoleon Perdis has revamped the amazing China Doll Gel Eyeliner Collection, making it even better than before! There are 4 new shades of creamy, long-wearing, smudge-proof eyeliner. He has created every perfect shade, from inky black to party perfect metallics. This liner enhances eyes with definition and great pigmentation. For a fine line apply with the Napoleon Perdis “5a” Precision Angle Sable Brush. Pro Tip: Using Napoleon Perdis '5a' Precision Angle Sable Brush wash China Doll Gel Eyeliner over the entire eyelid for a long-wear eye shadow base. Tap a dusting of Loose Eye Dust over the top for a fusion of color and texture. To freshen the eyes, apply Yang (white) to the waterline. A great trick is the line from the inner to the outer corner with one of the deeper shades. Highlight on the center of the lid with a lighter shade. I myself have small eyes that droop down. I used China Doll Gel Eyeliner in Lotus (silvery taupe) on the top and did a small flick up at the end. It made my eyes look much larger! This stuff wears all day long without any issues at all. Great stuff!!!!

Enhancer $22.00 (Available at Bergdorf Goodman, select Nordstrom locations and Ulta)

This super soft jumbo crayon is a multi purpose highlighting tool that reflects the light and flatters the face. To help enhance the intensity of the color your of lipstick, apply all over lips. Use down the bridge of the nose or on the cheekbones to catch the light. Soft focus optical diffusers take the focus off fine lines while Vitamins C and E provide antioxidant protection. This is one those products I think: “where have you been all of my life?” It really does highlight the face in flattering ways and works great on the lips. I am in love with it and don’t think I will be able to part with it. This product is really great at helping to kind of add some “wow” to lipstick color.

Do I have a favorite product? I would have to say the Enhancer. It has so many uses. And I also love The Ultimate Contour Palette, my cheeks look awesome with it. I cannot believe that I did not get to try out this brand before! Loving all of these items, I need to try the liquid foundation and the luminizer/bronzer. Those look lovely!
