I love to sample all of the monthly beauty boxes that come to my doorstep. There I said it. I am an addict. Beauty companies have come up with a great way to give us our beauty fix and I am addicted to the influx of these beauty goodies. Beauty Box 5 is at the top of the list in this category. They provide a subscription service of a monthly box that is filled with 5 cosmetic samples that are selected by their beauty editor (and likely provided by the companies themselves).
The samples that they provide are full size, deluxe or travel size. All of the brands are well known brands that you likely already know. You'll receive a mix of luxury brands, niche brands, eco-conscious and even vegan brands (a few of the brands are: Becca, Aveeno, Bellapierre, Blinc Cosmetics, Everyday Minerals, Clean & Clear, City Lips, H2O Plus, Lash Card, La Fresh, OFRA, Priti NYC, Skiin and Weleda, just to name a few). Beauty Box 5 includes a selection of makeup, hair care, skin care, nail care, fragrances and beauty accessories. All of this fun starts at $12.00 a month for a recurring subscription and shipping is free. If you subscribe to a quarterly subscription, it is $30.00, and you save $6.00. Get a yearly subscription for $99.00 (the best value) and you save $45.00. If you like what you receive, you can go on to the website and purchase the product! Beauty Box 5 has set up shop for you to be able to purchase all of your favorite products.
Below you can see a couple of the boxes that I have received:
Sample Box: New Year’s Resolutions theme
I received a sample box to try out. In that box was: Bath and Shower Exfoliating Gloves, a Nubar cuticle oil deluxe sample size, a Jergens Daily Moisture lotion sample, a H2O Plus shower gel deluxe sample, a “That Awkward Moment” mirror and I was supposed to get a Hemp Coconut Lip Balm but I didn’t actually receive one (I am not sure what happened there). I didn’t let them know about it. I probably should have for customer service reasons. It is okay though, I am not upset about it. These things happen and it was just a glitch on their end. It is the first time that this kind of thing has happened to me with one of their boxes. All of these samples are ones that I would definitely use. I need hand cream all the time (I wash my hands constantly and need it, as my hands are always dry). I have horrible cuticles and get hang nails, so cuticle oil is quite welcome. A mirror is welcome in my handbag, so I can check my lipstick. And I can use the shower gel to try out a new brand.
February Box: Beauty Box 5 Birthday! theme
The February Box was the First Birthday box for Beauty Box Five. In this box they has a special selection of items. I received Rockstar Nails nail polish set (polish and sprinkles), H2O Plus SPA Hand and Nail Cream, 2 packages of John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo and Conditioner samples, Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara deluxe sample and a Bonus Gift Card from MyNameNecklace.com. In this box there are samples that I like and ones that I would give to my kids. I love to try new mascaras, and I love this new one. The nail polish and nail sprinkles I will give to my daughter. I love the hand cream of course! And the shampoo and conditioner are always welcome in my travel bag. The MyNameNecklace.com gift card is going to be used for my daughter, since she has a name that is Greek and is never to be found her on anything. I am going to get her a necklace.
THE big question is, do I actually use all of the samples? Are they useful or do they just sit in a box that gets filled up month by month with samples from other monthly beauty box subscriptions? Well the answer is both. I find that I do use some of the samples right away and sometimes I put them in this large box full of samples that accumulates from other boxes that I subscribe to every month. Eventually samples get used, especially when I travel or when I need a particular product. Sometimes I have giveaways on my site and I use the samples. Or, my kids might use them. And sometimes I might want to review a few of the products and then some of them get used. The point is, they do get used. As mentioned above, these boxes will be used.
An even bigger point is, will you use them? Well, that depends on your tastes. I cannot say for sure whether you will or not. I can say for sure that Beauty Box 5 offers a nice service for a great price. Their service is comparable to Birchbox. If you like Birchbox then you will likely enjoy Beauty Box 5. Personally I think that Beauty Box 5 is somewhat better. Birchbox offers smaller samples whereas Beauty Box 5 offers deluxe, full-size and travel size samples. yes, they are a couple of dollars more per month, but it is definitely worth the extra money for the larger samples. What I really like about the Beauty Box 5 monthly samples are the diversity amongst the samples. There are so many different types of samples that they provide each month and I have a good time with the ones they provide. Like most of the monthly boxes out there, they do usually have somewhat of a theme, even if it is just “New Year’s Resolutions” or their one year birthday.
