Look what I picked up at a recent trip to Rite-Aid. It is the new Maybelline collection! ‘Dare to Go Nude’ it is called. Very befitting considering this spring everything is all about nude colors, light pinks and light browns. I have been reporting for a few months now that most lines will be showing nude shades. Does this mean you need to ditch the brights? Not in the least bit! Just add them little by little to your look and you have a cool, funky attitude for day. And at night make it look smoky and hot by taking the darker colors and adding them to your eyes, then using the cheek glazes to highlight your cheeks and finally amp up your lips with some megawatt shine!
The Products:
I did not pick up the entire collection, but most of it. It was too cute to pass along, so many great lip products especially!!!

Look #1:
I took shades from two of the quads and put them together. I used the shimmery taupe shade from the Taupe Tease quad in the crease. Then the matte black shade to line the lower lids and I used it on the outer 1/3 of the upper lid. From the Bare It Buff quad I used the dark matte brown shade and used it in the crease to add depth. I used the matte pink shade from that same quad on my lid. then I added a little sparkle with the shimmery white shade on top. Under the brow I used the shimmery white shade from the Taupe Tease quad. I lined upper lid and lower lid with the MasterDrama liner. For mascara I used L’Oreal’s Butterfly mascara. On my cheeks I used the MasterGlaze in Barely Pink and on top I added some contouring with the Master Hi-light in Natural. I used some on the outside of my nose and on the sides of my forehead too. On my lips I used the Color Sensational Lipcolor in Barely Bronze. The look is a lighter smoky look and well defined. Good for day and my face looks like it has a healthy glow.
LOOK #2:
For this look I used the Nude Romance quad. The reddish brown shade was used in the crease and then I took the dark brown and used it on the outer 1/3 of the upper lid and lined the lower lid with it. On the upper lid I used the shimmery white from the Taupe Tease quad. Under the brow I used the matte nude shade. I did not line this time and I used L’Oreal’s Butterfly Mascara again. On my cheeks I am wearing MasterGlaze in Nude Rebellion with a little bit of the Hi-Light of Natural on the back of the cheek to define it. On my lips I am wearing Color Elixir in Radiant Bloom. This look is a nude look that is well defined and great for daytime. The lip gloss/balm can even be a better nude shade than this to make the look more casual, I thought that this pink would make it look more sophisticated.
Thanks for reading and I hoped you like my breakdown of the Maybelline ‘Dare to Go Nude’ Collection. I think it is a great collection and will definitely sell out. So if you see it, be sure to grab what you want. Don’t wait for BOGO. You might be out of luck by then! These are colors that everyone can wear. That is why nude color stories are so popular. You don’t have to pick up the whole collection (unless you really want to), but the lipsticks and Color Elixir are especially nice. As are the cheek colors. I like the eye shadows but this time around they aren’t as pigmented as usual and have a lot of fallout. The prices are reasonable too. Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand right now. They always keep up with the trends and have great products.
