I am a HUGE fan of alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids. I firmly believe that exfoliation is one of the better keys to looking young and vibrant. So, whenever I receive a product to tryout that has AHA’s or such, I am a happy camper! The Facial Radiance Pads from First Aid Beauty (FAB) are a great example of how you can incorporate AHA’s into your daily skincare regimen.
First Aid Beauty (FAB for short) was founded in 2009 by Lilli Gordon, who felt that many of the skincare products she was finding on the market were not effective enough, smelled like medicine or were leaving her sensitive skin red and irritated. She wanted luxurious products that were effective and treated everyday skincare challenges. FAB products are simple yet highly effective. The packaging is kept simple. “FAB products blend serious therapeutic action with luxurious textures, so individuals with tough skin conditions no longer have to sacrifice luxury nor tolerate greasy creams and bland formulas.” Dr. Robert Buka, a board certified dermatologist, supervises all of the ingredients that go into the FAB products. All the ingredients that go into First Aid Beauty products are rigorously researched, thus resulting in 21st century formulas that blend best of science and nature. FAB products are free of harsh chemicals and known allergens, including parabens, phthalates, alcohol, fragrances and artificial dyes. Also, certain products are FDA-approved over-the-counter formulations that target specific skin issues such as eczema and acne.
The Facial Radiance Pads brighten, tone and exfoliate the skin with just the right amount of lactic and glycolic acid, so that even the most sensitive of skins will be able to use them. They help to diminish fine lines, help to reduce pore size and improve skin clarity. The pads also contain cucumber and Indian gooseberry to tone the skin. Lemon peel and licorice root leave it bright and glowing (kind of like a light bulb!). The pads do not contain any parabens, dyes/colorants or harsh chemicals.
I have tried many brands that have “exfoliant pads”. I would definitely put these pads on par with the other brands. Why? Simply because this product is great for sensitive skin. It was designed to exfoliate yet be gentle enough for someone with sensitivity issues. It is very difficult to make a product like this, as AHA’s in general are harsh and can cause severe irritation in sensitive skin. In addition to the other botanicals in the formula, there is also hyaluronic acid, mandarin orange extract and feverfew extract. The hyaluronic acid helps to add moisture back into the skin. The mandarin orange extract helps to soothe the skin. The feverfew extract is an anti-inflammatory. I think that this formula has been made to be as gentle as possible. I’ve used the product for a month now and have found it to be a good exfoliant. I like that it is gentle and I think it will be great for those with sensitive skins who desire to chemically exfoliate their skin, rather than with a physical exfoliant. If you are looking for such a product, then this is the perfect choice for you!
