I try out a lot of skincare. A lot. Since I am an esthetician by trade, it is important for me to really get a good look at all kinds of different brands of skincare and to really see what is out on the market. Recently I tried some samples of a brand called Épicé . This brand’s motto is: “It’s All About Healthy Skin.” The company was founded by Dr. Michael Spicer. He wanted to create the most effective, user-friendly, skincare products. As a board certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist with a degree in biochemistry, Dr. Spicer has a considerable understanding and knowledge of the structure and function of the skin. Dr. Spicer’s goals are to prevent skin problems, protect the skin, achieve and maintain the best skin possible.
I tried three products: The Hydrating Facial Cleanser, the Purifying Exfoliant and the Therapeutic Moisturizer. My favorite by far was the Purifying Exfoliant and that is because (if you know me at all) I love a good exfoliant. Getting rid of excess dead skin cells and is one of the keys to anti-aging success. Let’s discuss the products I tried.
Hydrating Facial Cleanser 5.5 oz. $27.00
Épicé Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a skin friendly anti-oxidant cleanser that removes makeup and any impurities while gently cleansing the skin. The unique formula hydrates while cleansing and protects the skin without stripping it of the natural lipids. Its anti-inflammatory and cell regenerative ingredients leave skin feeling rejuvenated. Green tea and pomegranate help protect against free radical damage. Vitamins A, C and E add additional anti-oxidant benefit. Glycerin moisturizes and hydrates the skin. It is free of sodium lauryl sulfate so it is safe for sensitive skins.
This is a great cleanser. It cleanses skin perfectly fine without making it feel as if it has been left with nothing on it, so it does not feel “squeaky clean” afterwards, which is a sure sign that it is stripped of all natural lipids.
Purifying Exfoliant 3.3 oz. $32.00
Purifying Exfoliant removes excess dirt and dead skin cells all while activating collagen production and hydrating skin! The moisture rich formula uses a mild formula and anti-bacterial cleansers that have micro-fine polyspheres to enhance skin texture and clarity. The formula is packed with emollients, humectants and barrier protectors to hydrate dry, irritated skin. It smoothes skin as it cleans too. It is also great for use on the entire body. Improvement is seen in just a few uses. It can be used alone or with Hydrating Facial Cleanser. The best way to use it is to wet face with lukewarm water and apply to skin in small circular motions. Then leave on for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Use once or twice weekly.
This is one of the most unique exfoliants I have ever used on my skin. The formula is quite interesting and I find it works great to get rid of all of the excess dead skin and pore clogging debris that helps to start acne. The formula contains anti-bacterial cleansers so using this is great for a prophylactic approach to acne maintenance.
Therapeutic Moisturizer $15.00
Épicé’s Therapeutic Moisturizer is a soothing, scent-free formula that has aloe, shea butter and cocoa butter to help heal dry, sensitive skin. Glycerin is an emollient that hydrates and softens the skin. Dimethicone helps to form a barrier protecting the skin from any environmental irritants. This cream is free of petrolatum, free of mineral oil, free of propylene glycol, free of parabens and free of any fragrances.
This is a moisturizer for those who have compromised skin: skin that is extremely dry, skin for those who have undergone chemotherapy, any sort of illness or chronic disorder etc. It will hydrate and form a barrier to keep the moisture in the skin.
Épicé has many other products that look quite good and if they are similar to what I have tried out, then I would be happy to recommend them as I have the three I tried here.
