One thing is sure, with the coming of Spring and Summer, it is time to get our hair removal methods in place. I am lucky enough in that I don’t have too much hair on my legs, so I don’t have to shave or wax them too often. I do have to do my upper lip more though, unfortunately. I received this kit from Parissa to try out. The kit I received is a waxing kit for the legs and body.
When you wax anywhere on your body you have to make sure the hair is long enough, which should be at least 1/4”. So this means that you have to let it go 4-6 weeks between waxing sessions. Some people don’t like to wait that long. I do admit that it is hard when you have very dark, thick hair!
So, how do you go about using a waxing kit? The Parissa Quick and Easy Wax Strips For Legs & Body is very simple to use. It contains 16 strips (8 X 2 sided strips) and a bottle of azulene oil that you can use afterwards. Azulene comes from Chamomile and is a great way to help with any inflammation and redness. The strips can be used for legs, arms, underarms and bikini. Just about any large body area. It is recommended that you do a patch test first to see if you have a reaction from the waxing. If so, don’t proceed with anymore waxing. If not, then go ahead and do the rest of the limb or area that you have planned out.
NOTE: If you get a kit for your face, you must make sure not to use any retinol for a few days prior to waxing and to stop Retin-A for at least one week prior to waxing. These thin the skin too much and can cause bleeding. I just wanted to put this in here for your safety.
The next step is to take the 2-sided strip and warm it up in between your hands for a minute. Then rip it apart and apply to the area to be waxed. Press down hard and make sure to rub in the direction of the hair growth. Now, it is important to take the strip off right away. The easiest way is to rip it off very quickly. Rip it off like a band-aid and make sure to rip it close to the skin in the opposite direction of the hair growth. This is very important. If you don’t do this the hair will not come off. The wax strips can be used multiple times. It is usually not recommended to go over one area more than once, however, these strips are very gentle and if the hair does not come out in the first try I found it okay to go over more than once without any issues. After the waxing is done apply the azulene oil to the area that has been waxed, just a little bit to help with redness and inflammation. The azulene oil also helps to get any extra wax off the skin that has been left on from the strips.
Make sure to keep the waxed area exfoliated to avoid ingrown hairs. Do not exfoliate the day that you wax though, that will cause extreme redness and inflammation on the area that was waxed. Wait at least 24 hours after waxing to do any kind of scrubbing/exfoliation.
So, how does the Parissa kit compare to other kits I have used? I think it does a pretty good job. I did find that the hair was not coming off right away with the strips but I was able to get it off with multiple uses. My hair is thin and hard to get into the wax. My upper lip does better with wax strips than my legs. If you have coarse, thick hair then it will come out with the wax strips. The strips themselves are easy to use and only take a moment to warm up in between the hands.
The Parissa Quick and Easy Wax Strips For Legs & Body retails for $13.00. It is available on www.parissa.com, www.ulta.com, www.amazon.com, www.drugstore.com and www.target.com.
