Shiseido is known for their foundations with a high sun protection factor. They have a seal of approval and are actually recommended from the Skin Cancer Foundation. I am going to review two foundations that have a high SPF, the UV Protective Liquid Foundation with a SPF of 42 and the UV Protective Stick Foundation with a SPF of 37. Shiseido sun foundations protect skin from damage caused by external aggressors such as UV rays and dryness.
UV Protective Liquid Foundation SPF 42 $36.00
Although it is has been around for a while, this foundation has a new formula. It is a full coverage foundation. This foundation has a SPF of 42, as I mentioned above. Because it is full coverage it leaves a flawless, dewy and luminous finish that lasts for many hours on the skin. UV Protective Liquid Foundation is resistant against water, so it is great for outdoor activities. The formula has an exclusive SuperVeil-UV 360TM technology and ProfenseCELTM to resist aging. It is broad spectrum to battle UVA and UVB rays, protecting skin from sun damage. Water, sebum and dryness are no match for this formula, which protects the skin from these external aggressors. It comes in 8 shades. It comes with a sponge applicator in a little blue case.
I love this foundation. Now, I fancy myself to be somewhat of a foundation expert since I
have so much trouble finding a good color for my skin. I try many foundations out and this one is quite good. It is a little thin and but goes on well and does indeed have full coverage. I like that you don’t need too much to get the coverage I need. You can see from the swatch on the right here (and the photo below) that it is indeed a full coverage foundation. The sun protection factor comes from both a chemical sunscreen and a mineral sunscreen, octinoxate 1.9% and titanium dioxide 8.3%. I also like that it wears well all day long without smearing and wearing off. I have the color Fair Beige and it is a good color for me, even though it is the second lightest color.
It is very important to keep skin protected from the sun all year round but especially during the summer months when the sun is at its worst. One must wear at least an SPF of 30 or higher. This foundation has a SPF of 42, which is very high indeed. I recommend a foundation like this because you get good coverage, a high SPF and a long wearing water resistant foundation. I love that the finish with this is a luminous finish. It is the perfect foundation for summer. Love it!

UV Protective Stick Foundation SPF 37 $28.00
The UV Protective Stick Foundation is a little bit different than the UV Protective Liquid Foundation. The stick foundation still gives a dewy, luminous finish to the skin with a broad spectrum SPF 37, but the coverage is medium rather than full. It is a creamy stick foundation that spreads easily and evenly over the skin. The stick foundation has the exclusive SuperVeil-UV 360TM technology and ProfenseCELTM to resist aging and it is water resistant and resistant to sebum. The coverage is long-lasting and the finish is natural looking. The sun protection factor comes from both chemical and mineral
sunscreens, octinoxate 2.9% and titanium dioxide 7.2%. It comes in 4 shades.
Normally I don’t like stick foundations all that much, as I find that they are very dry. Not so with this one. It is extremely creamy and goes on so smoothly. This foundation blends in very easily and once on sets in nicely and stays on all day without budging. I like that the lightest color is actually a good match for me. I have Fair Ivory and it is pretty light. Another nice thing about this foundation is that it is very portable and can be taken anywhere. Take it to the gym, travel with it, take it to the office, use it at the beach, etc. Because of the high SPF and the good coverage it is a great product to use for the summer makeup regimen. It is small enough to put in a purse. I also think that this makes a good concealer in addition to foundation, so it can be used for both in a pinch. I love that you get a dewy finish with this foundation, instead of a matte finish. I like a nice dewy finish.
