Exfoliating skin is an important part of the skincare regimen. Exfoliation helps decongest pores (get rid of clogged pores), gets rid of extraneous dead skin cells that will eventually clog pores, brightens skin by removing dulling dead skin cells that justs makes the skin look dull and unimpressive and helps to allow skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin by removing the top,  layer of dead skin that prevents anything from getting through. Exfoliants come in two types: chemical and physical. Chemical exfoliants are AHAs, enzymes and retinoids. Physical exfoliants are things like scrubs. I like both but you have to be careful with scrubs to make sure you get the right kind and that they are not too strong for the skin, scrubs can cause damage to the skin if not used correctly or if not gentle enough.

One scrub that is a physical exfoliant that I love, and is all natural, is The Organic Skin Co. Nitty Gritty Almond Seed Exfoliant. This scrub is gentle, leaves skin feeling smooth and healthy, rejuvenated and it gently sloughs off dead skin cells while also removing excess oils and dirt, makeup and debris too. It takes skin from nitty gritty to oh so pretty in seconds. The organic almond seed granules are small, soft and do not leave skin looking red and irritated. It also contains licorice supercritical extract. The best way to use this product is to apply to slightly damp skin and massage gently in circular motions. Then rinse. It leaves skin as smooth as silk and looking as beautiful as ever. This product is not only cruelty free, certified organic and is also vegan.

I am very happy with the way this product performs. It definitely scrubs skin clean of any extra dead skin cells that aren't needed at the moment. Then after rinsing, skin looks nice and pink from the increase in circulation that scrubbing brings to the skin. This is why exfoliation brings a beautiful glow to the skin that cannot be replicated with anything. And can only be performed with a physical exfoliant. This product is extremely gentle on the skin. That is another reason I like it. You can scrub really hard with this (and I have) and still it is like a medium scrub with walnuts in it. It can be modified depending on how your skin is: if you have sensitive skin, use it very gently and just massage lightly. If you have dry skin, massage in circular motions and then get rid of the dead skin. If you have oily skin, massage as much as possible. I would not recommend this for acneic skin with active breakouts. That just spreads the bacteria to other parts of the face if you break open pustules. For mature skin, scrub gently so as not to cause irritation. If you have normal/combination skin, use like dry skin. The
