It is cold outside, which means that hands get dry and chapped. The reason is that there is less moisture in the air and therefore, there is less moisture to be had in the skin. The hands actually don't produce any sebum and they become chapped and dry quite easily. It is very important to protect them with a good hand cream, something that holds moisture in and can help keep them from drying out easily. I finally found one that actually lasts all day long and seems to do the trick.

Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve is the best hand cream I have ever used. This thick, rich moisturizing hand salve cares for dry hands like no other hand cream. It provides all-day care for active and dry hands. Formulated with Avocado Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, and Sesame Seed Oil, this hand moisturizer for dry skin leaves hands feeling soft, conditioned and cared for. The cream helps protect and repair the appearance of severely dry hands caused by manual labor, neglect, exposure to harsh elements and heavy industrial labor.

The ingredients are what make the difference between this and other lesser hand creams. Avocado Oil has a rich emollient texture and contains a balance of lipids including omega essential fatty acids. Used in this formula, Avocado Oil is a known moisturizer and it nourishes & softens the skin. Sesame Seed Oil is derived from Sesame Seeds and also has emollient properties. This oil is quite common in skincare products. It helps to soften the skin. Eucalyptus Oil, from the leaf of the Eucalyptus plant, is known for its purifying properties. It provides a clean and refreshing aroma to the salve. Glycerin is used as a powerful humectant. In this hand cream it draws in moisture from the air to absorb water and forms a "glove-like" protective barrier against moisture loss. To use, apply liberally to clean (preferably slightly damp) hands. Can be used day or night.

I can personally speak from experience that I just started using this cream about 5 days ago and I had severe dry patches on my knuckles that nothing would help. Within 2 days of using this product they were gone. I only use it twice a day too. I had tried everything to get rid of them, even hydrocortisone cream.

This is definitely my go-to hand cream from now on and I will be repurchasing it. I was lucky enough to get it on sale for Black Friday at a huge 50% discount, with and additional 25% off. I should have purchased 2 tubes for that price and now I am kicking myself over this decision.
